MARYVILLE, Mo:
Northwest Missouri State University faced Southwest Baptist University in a three-game series on March 7, 2019, in Bolivar, Missouri. The three games were all MIAA conference games for the Bearcats and every game was a one run victory. The first game ended 9-8, second 8-7 and third 2-1. Clutch hits and pitches were the key to success in the three-game series sweep.
For one player, His name was etched in the record books for Northwest.
The Bearcats closer, Trevor Dudar, was dominate through the series and earned himself a spot in the record books as the all-time saves leader with 18 at the time.
Dudar pitched 3 2/3 innings in the three games, gave up two hits, one earned run and struck out five batters.
This is a common theme for Dudar as he was the Division II leader in saves last season with 14.
Head Coach Darin Loe 19 season as a Northwest’s head coach is winding down this season.
“We saw him in the summer and he was looking to transfer and it felt like he was a quality arm,” Loe said, “He was going to help us in some regard, but we didn’t think he was going to be this dominate.”
A background full of playing, practice and watching baseball, Dudar likes to keep his game fine tuned so he is ready in a given notice to help shut the door in the ninth inning. Through Dudar’s teammates and coaches, he has a drive to succeed when he is on the mound late in games to shut the door.
The MIAA Baseball Tournament starts on May 9.
